October Tunes
Fall is in full-swing for all my family and friends back East, while all remains the same out here in sunny San Diego. So I decided for this mixtape to pick songs perfect for those crisp, chilly fall days and also for those sunny warm days. You'll find new releases from a few of my favorite bands and some intro's to newly discovered bands. Hope you enjoy them.

Discover New Music
I spend a lot of time finding new music. I comb the interweb's for new music sites, blogs, band pages, anything that can help me find that great new band. Discovering new music brings a different kind of joy to me and I've always enjoyed sharing my finds with good friends.
With that said, I decided to compile a few of my go-to sites to uncover my new favorite bands and share them here. I hope you too can find that new joy to your ears.
Pitchfork -The heralded snobs of the indie music scene, they blow up to all heavens the random 'It' bands and give bad reviews to bands and musicians who truly deserve the recognition Pitchfork can offer. However, Pitchfork is always on top of new releases, videos, concerts, festivals, and compiles great new music lists.
Stereogum -Similar in content to Pitchfork, Stereogum has a more blogger feel, great free daily downloads and tends to showcase bands and musicians that Pitchfork omits. Always my second stop for music.
Blalock's Indie Rock Playlist -If you've downloaded music from sites like Ares, you most likely have downloaded a song from a BIRP Playlist. A huge database of monthly mixes available for streaming and download, Blalock showcases truly independent music and some mainstream and is an excellent place to find that obscure band.
Daytrotter -A cool site to find acoustic and in-studio sessions by all different genres of bands and musicians. Some incredible live sessions can be found and downloaded here.
We Are Hunted -An online, listener driven music chart; We Are Hunted showcases new releases of all different genres of independent artists and has great remixes and options to create playlists.

Real Estate
New Jersey's own Real Estate have been one of those bands for me that I can not and will never tire of. Their debut self-titled album Real Estate was my most-listened to album of 2010, due to its lo-fi, jangly, surf rock inspired sounds. It's a perfect soundtrack to nearly any situation and in any environment.
On October 8 they will release their long awaited sophomore effort titled Days, just one of the many albums I am so looking forward to this fall. Check out the just released "Green Aisles" from Days, a melodic ear-pleaser that is destined to become one of my favorite songs of the year, and keep up with Real Estate's happenings HERE

August Tunes
The summer is quickly and unfortunately coming to an end, so here's a mix for those last epic beach days, drives to nowhere with all the windows down, and late nights outside with friends and a cold beer. Pump the jams and enjoy!

Moods and Sounds
It's 9am on a Saturday Morning. You just woke up and are ready to take on the day. Or, perhaps you woke up in dreamland and are having trouble setting the dream about flying aside. Regardless of your mood, time of day or setting... there's a song for that!
I came across this rad site, stereomood.com. As you can see above, there is a plethora of moods and feelings disguised as gateways to thousands of songs relating to each mood. Sometimes you may feel energetic but will somehow find yourself listening to a depressing song. This may be your new tool for enhancing that ear candy!
Some may argue that this method of song-searching is cheating- almost like online dating where everything you need is brought to your front door. I propose that you keep your mind and heart open. Beginning to hear new sounds and experience new artists will change your life. I've always been infatuated by this process and treat music as a lifelong journey. The more you listen, the richer your taste buds (or ears) become! Enjoy.

Teen Daze + Two Bicycles
Teen Daze & Two Bicycles are music projects conceived by Jamison; a kid from Vancouver who has been pumping out records, remixes, collaborations and mixtapes for the better part of two years. I've been following him for awhile and have been floored by the stuff he's put out.
Teen Daze is his synth-heavy electronic project while Two Bicycles is his stripped-down lo-fi, ambient side. A lot of his inspiration comes from nature, and it's easy to get lost in his hazy, epic sounds. His remix of Local Natives' 'Wide Eyes' is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. Check out a song by both of his projects below.
