Discover New Music

I spend a lot of time finding new music. I comb the interweb's for new music sites, blogs, band pages, anything that can help me find that great new band. Discovering new music brings a different kind of joy to me and I've always enjoyed sharing my finds with good friends.

With that said, I decided to compile a few of my go-to sites to uncover my new favorite bands and share them here. I hope you too can find that new joy to your ears.

Pitchfork  -The heralded snobs of the indie music scene, they blow up to all heavens the random 'It' bands and give bad reviews to bands and musicians who truly deserve the recognition Pitchfork can offer. However, Pitchfork is always on top of new releases, videos, concerts, festivals, and compiles great new music lists.

Stereogum -Similar in content to Pitchfork, Stereogum has a more blogger feel, great free daily downloads and tends to showcase bands and musicians that Pitchfork omits. Always my second stop for music.

Blalock's Indie Rock Playlist -If you've downloaded music from sites like Ares, you most likely have downloaded a song from a BIRP Playlist. A huge database of monthly mixes available for streaming and download, Blalock showcases truly independent music and some mainstream and is an excellent place to find that obscure band.

Daytrotter -A cool site to find acoustic and in-studio sessions by all different genres of bands and musicians. Some incredible live sessions can be found and downloaded here.

We Are Hunted -An online, listener driven music chart; We Are Hunted showcases new releases of all different genres of independent artists and has great remixes and options to create playlists.
